Review: Crazy for Christmas - Love in Cloverdale Falls #4

Crazy for Christmas book cover on blue background

Formerly branded the Small Town Shenanigans series by Penny Zeller, the renamed Love in Cloverdale Falls series shows you what a zany small town can offer when senior citizens function as investigators and there is a rogue newspaper photographer who is prepared to capture the worst of the embarrassing moments for the paper.

Crazy for Christmas fits right into the wild shenanigans through a contrast of extremes, raising the question of what love can look like when meeting in the middle. It's a great way to prepare for the holiday season by considering whether it's possible to be too zealous and how that can affect others.

Book Synopsis

She's a walking Christmas catastrophe. He's a by-the-rules cop. Can they find true love this holiday season?

Juniper Swenson loves Christmas and can’t wait to experience her favorite holiday in her new town of Cloverdale Falls. It’s her love for Christmas that lands Juniper in trouble with the law in the early weeks of November for having an oversized Christmas tree tied to the top of her undersized car. It’s clear the officer who pulls her over has no Christmas spirit and does not share her enthusiasm for getting started early celebrating the best holiday of the year. Quickly terming him the “Sullen Sergeant”, Juniper has no idea just how often their paths will cross.

Police Officer Aiden Lockwood loves order and keeping his town of Cloverdale Falls safe. What he doesn’t expect is to see a miniature car cruising down the street with a Christmas tree haphazardly attached to the top. This first encounter with Juniper Swenson, whom he secretly terms the “Crazy Christmas Lady”, is only the first of many. Soon, he finds himself rescuing her from a host of chaotic—and usually Christmas-themed—situations.

When Juniper and Aiden are paired for all types of volunteer Christmas activities, things begin to change between them. Can the Crazy Christmas Lady and the Sullen Sergeant find true love this Christmas season?

She's an extrovert who loves Christmas.

He's an officer who loves law and order.

And there's a Corgi.

Book Thoughts

What happens when you combine an exuberant Christmas enthusiast with a more sedate Christmas observer? Plenty of holiday joy and a few corrected assumptions along the way! I always adore each new Penny Zeller contemporary romance I read as I know that she will have me in stitches throughout the story. In the case of Juniper and Aiden, it's inevitable that Juniper's Christmas antics will catch the eye of Officer Lockwood, also known as the Sullen Sergeant. Couple Juniper's fairly innocent shenanigans with the folks of Cloverdale Falls, and non-stop mischief ensues when Cloverdale Falls Investigations gets involved.

Amid the Christmas fun, there are some wonderful spiritual lessons imparted along the way. This book does a great job of exploring what family looks like, along with understanding other people's perspectives and upbringings. Grace needs to be extended between Juniper and Aiden, making their budding relationship even sweeter, especially in how it culminates. If you enjoy Christmas stories with an adorable dog that happens to don Christmas sweaters and a couple of thrown-together friends who prove that opposites really attract, this faith-filled adventure will have you chuckling all the way to the Christmas tree that may or may not be too oversized for your vehicle.

Book Quotes

But when the holiday came and he celebrated the birth of his Savior, Aiden also celebrated something else. The profound realization that God’s fingerprints were all over every detail of his life. From his dismal beginning to his happy ending. When he thought of Christmas, his heart was filled with gratitude to his Lord first and foremost for orchestrating the rescue that saved his and Kirby’s lives.

Review: The One She Loves - A Healing Kind of Love #4

It's a little sad to bid farewell to the  A Healing Kind of Love series by Ella Marie , but I'm thankful that a bonus book was added for fans wanting to see more of Enzo's daughter. Gianna definitely steals the show and she's a pure delight in The One She Loves , all grown up and pursuing graduate education. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Book Synopsis As the youngest of five successful siblings, Hollywood was Nico’s chance to finally prove he could make a name for himself. Mortality and Reading

This is a topic that has been resonating for me over the past few days, ever since I saw James Trevino's Instagram reel about why you shouldn't finish every book you start. In it, he breaks down the math of how many books we'd be able to read in a lifetime, based on reading a set number of hours per day and the average lifespan. He then compares this number to the number of books that are available worldwide. At first glance, it made me realize that I would have a lot of unread books, no matter whether my life is short or long. There's just too many books to read. Thinking about when my life might end led me to think about the types of books I read and how I'm currently filling my time. I don't think it's a coincidence that right after this crossed my mind, I was listening to  The Weight of Glory by C.S. Lewis where he espouses a simple but profound line that stopped me in my tracks: "If you don't read good books, you will read bad ones." Thi...
