What You Read Shapes Who You Become

The heart of this readathon is to identify, celebrate, and promote books that are unashamed in clearly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This upcoming year, we invite you to participate in the #ClearlyChristianReadathon!

Let's be intentional with the books that we read by following Philippians 4:8: "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

As a result, may we become Christians who increasingly exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

With God's help, we want our reading to continually point toward Him, spurring us to reflect Him in our lives.

Ways to Participate

  • Short on time? The Bible is the best place to be and the best place to start. Begin by memorizing Philippians 4:8 and Galatians 5:22-23 and spending time each day with God. There are no rules, just a genuine desire to see readers choose the Bible first.
  • Have more time? Commit to reading 24 #ClearlyChristianBooks in 2024. Each month, select a book that reflects Philippians 4:8 and another one that reflects Galatians 5:22-23. You can cycle through all of the attributes (more than once!) or select the ones that God may be impressing on your heart the most. If you don't have 24 Christian books to choose from, books of the Bible count!
  • Have even more time? Share these books with other readers using the hashtag #ClearlyChristianReadathon and how God has been using it in your life. Help other readers find edifying Christian titles by posting your reviews and thoughts! If you are on Goodreads, you can join the Clearly Christian Readathon group to meet like-minded readers and share your experiences there as well.

Christian as a Genre

I've always found it interesting that Christianity as its own genre can be used across music, film, books, and virtually most forms of artistic or creative expression. While most secular items tend to be labelled by their style, works produced by Christians tend to get labelled by the faith of the one producing it. Review: The Darkness Deepens - The Day Draws Near #2

If you've read  The End Begins , the first book in the  The Day Draws Near series (previously The Seven Trilogy) by Sara Davison, The Darkness Deepens takes you further as this sequel further delves into Jesse and Meryn's story. I wouldn't say that this book is a standalone book as it builds upon the previous one, but I would say that reading the first book will certainly whet your appetite for this one as you find out what's next.
