Review: Love Somebody Like You - Trinity Lakes Romance #5

Love Somebody Like You book cover on blue background

Reading any book by Carolyn Miller is like returning to a beloved family reunion where (major) drama is bypassed and a wonderful experience is guaranteed. Love Somebody Like You is the fifth book in the Trinity Lakes Romance series and introduces us to Jackson Reilly of the famous Reilly family as we spend time on his ranch and meet Lexi Franklin, whose parents are the directors of the Bible College in town.

Book Synopsis

For Lexi Franklin, returning to Trinity Lakes feels a little like running home with her tail between her legs.

But what's a girl to do, when her life has been turned upside down on the other side of the world? She needs a place to regain hope and healing—just didn't count on meeting a cowboy whose own battered heart might need nursing back to health too.

Jackson Reilly has his own set of troubles, between caring for his ranch, his mom, and the black hole of finances. So when a pretty redhead with a sassy tongue offers some distraction—and a potential solution to one of his most pressing concerns—he's not going to say no.

But as they spend time together, questions soon rise about their future, and whether faith can truly win over fears. Will Jackson be able to save his ranch, and his hopes and heart, before Lexi returns to Australia?

Book Thoughts

After meeting the Reilly family in other books that Carolyn Miller has written, I knew I wanted to go back and discover the stories of the remaining siblings. Getting to learn about Jackson Reilly and the ranch he has been working so hard to save, I appreciated that he met his match in Lexi Franklin. These two had sparks flying on the pages, even if they were reticent to admit them at first. It was lovely to visit Trinity Lakes again in Washington and to have part of the book set at Trinity Lakes Bible College.

This small town was simply charming, even with some notorious town gossips who seemed intent on passing along any information they came across. Thankfully, Jackson and Lexi did everything they could to be above reproach, which was a breath of fresh air. Seeing them pray for one another, respect each other's boundaries and reputation, and seek out God's will for their lives and their families made this a wonderful read. I truly got the sense that Jackson and Reilly took responsibility for their actions and worked through them as mature adults, even when times were trying. Readers wanting to meet another Reilly family member will enjoy the banter, love, and faith that is shared between siblings and friends in Love Somebody Like You.

Reader Identity

The more I share my book thoughts and reviews, the more amazed I am at how many readers there are out there and just how many people enjoy talking about the books they're reading. Quite frankly, I'm blown away by the notion that there are people actively wanting to adopt the persona of being a reader, whereas I remember growing up, it was stigmatized as either boring or 'nerdy'. I used to cringe when I was in a position where I was asked to share about my hobbies as reading seemed to generate a sort of response where others would murmur about how they didn't know that people did that for fun. To be fair, this might have been some of the social circles or settings I've been a part of over the years, but I think reading has generally become more mainstream now. Thankfully, I can let people know that I spend almost all of my free time reading (amongst other things), and others don't seem to bat an eye anymore. While I have seen some content that discourages peo...
