Review: Unexpectedly Falling for Us - Us #4

Unexpectedly Falling for Us book cover on blue background

Releasing on November 10, 2026, Unexpectedly Falling for Us by Elizabeth Trent captures the remnants of the autumn season by wrapping itself around readers like a warm sweater. This fourth book in the Us series shares grace and truth, packaged together in loving guidance from friends and family.

Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Book Synopsis

One fake relationship. Two guarded hearts. Real feelings neither planned for.

Sariah

I should have stayed out of his world.

Jackson West is charming, handsome, and has the kind of reputation I know better than to trust. But when one unexpected moment turns into a fake relationship to quiet curious family members, pretending becomes more complicated than either of us expected.

The more time I spend with him, the harder it is to ignore the man behind the image. He’s patient, steady, and the kind of man who makes me wonder if God might still have something good planned for me.

But if Jackson ever discovers the secret I’ve carried for years, I’m afraid he’ll realize what I’ve believed all along... that I’m too broken to deserve the future I’ve been praying for.

Jackson

Pretending was supposed to be easy.

Dating Sariah Morales was only meant to solve a temporary problem. Instead, she challenges me, steadies me, and makes me want to become the man God has been calling me to be.

I’ve worked hard to leave my old reputation behind and prove to my family that I’ve changed. But Sariah sees beyond the man I used to be, and somewhere along the way, she becomes the woman I never expected to fall for.

The more I fall for her, the more I realize some things are worth risking everything for.

As secrets come to light and faith is tested, Sariah and Jackson must decide whether to let their pasts define their future or trust that God's grace can lead them toward something neither dared to hope for.

Book Thoughts

It's not easy to convince others that who you are now is not who you once were. This is the issue that Jackson West faces as he strives to reform his former self as someone who used to chase after the things of the world. In encountering Sariah Morales, he has to work even harder to prove himself. Thankfully, this isn't a story about personal strength and willpower; it's about God working in our hearts so that our outward behaviours align with our being made new in Christ. While Jackson and Sariah both suffer from making the wrong choices, it is worth taking the journey to see how they grow from their past sins and mistakes.

Unexpectedly Falling for Us doesn't offer an easy path, but it does an excellent job at conveying how the right path can come with a cost. I love that we get to see Derrick and Hunter from What I Like About Us as they dispense godly counsel to Jackson and Sariah based on the lessons they have learnt. It's encouraging that no matter what is thrown at Jackson and Sariah, they turn back to God, His Word, and His people before making their next decisions. Readers who enjoy stories about how God's grace shapes our identity will appreciate the ultimate gift of mercy offered by a forgiving and loving Lord in this life-giving romance.

Book Quotes

“But you’re not the same guy you were back then. You actually stop and think now. You care about consequences. About people. That’s God changing you, Jackson. So trust Him enough to walk away if something feels off.” I know he’s right, but doubt still circles. Trust myself. Trust Him. “It could be a test.” Derrick says. “And you can pass it. You know your boundaries. You know your heart. Protect what’s important to you, and lean on God for the courage to do it.” I nod, letting a small wave of calm wash over me. His words remind me why I fight to change.

Review: The Echoes of Eden

Readers looking for a book that asks questions about the origin of the world and its intended culmination will find much to ruminate on in The Echoes of Eden by R.J. Stevens . It is a philosophical and theological treat to think through the Christian worldview in this ordered and sequential analysis that moves from Genesis to Revelation.  Ideal for personal study or group study, there is a devotional component to this book that allows readers to dive into the material more deeply. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Please note that the author of this work has the same name as another author of romance novels, but are two different people. Book Synopsis "Before you were born, the Echoes of Eden were calling your name." In an age where truth feels negotiable, goodness subjective, and purpose self-constructed, we still sense a quiet longing for a world that was once whole and coherent. The...

Review: Anytime - Mayberry University #3

This is it! Anytime by Kristina Welch  is the third book in the Mayberry University series where we get to encounter students with a heart for Jesus and a passion to serve Him wherever He calls them. In this opposites attract new adult romance, we meet Janie and Mav who are like day and night in their personalities and temperaments in every way, except in their love for God. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Content to be aware of:  While Anytime could be read as a standalone, this is a heads up that there is a lot of terminology that is dependent on the previous books, especially around the university itself with all of the lingo and the nicknames for the characters. A man's shirt is also removed and there is talk of skimpy clothing. Book Synopsis Rigid productivity queen,  meet prank-loving chaos monger. Can he wait for God to lead the way? Can she stop trying to map it all out...

Review: The Marriage Goal - The Reluctant Romantics #4

As one of my favourite series that I've read over the past year,  The Reluctant Romantics series  keeps knocking it out of the park with each new release. The Marriage Goal by Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht is a book you'll want to enjoy with Christmas around the corner, filled with plenty of literature-infused banter and heartwarming moments along the way. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Book Synopsis To love and to cherish, until death or visa fraud do us part. Juliet: Taking a job as the Caldwell Chargers' new legal counsel was a calculated risk of pros and cons. Pro: it’s a prestigious position at my age. Con: I’m stuck working with my older brother’s best friend—the man who broke my teenage heart eight years ago. I’ve spent years avoiding Myles Delavan, and now he’s everywhere. The flirty goalie with gorgeous hair is a tempting distraction I can’t afford. Right up there with my med...
