Review: Marrying the Rancher's Daughter - Christmas in Redemption Ridge #1

Marrying the Rancher's Daughter book cover on blue background

The Christmas in Redemption Ridge series is one that I've been waiting to start from the beginning for some time now, especially as the spinoff to the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series, which I enjoyed getting to read and review in my first year of this account.

Marrying the Rancher's Daughter by Tara Grace Ericson is the first of eighteen books that all promise enriching faith stories set against the backdrop of a small town at Christmastime.

Book Synopsis

He's completely wrong for her. But their marriage may be exactly what she needs.

Professional bullrider Jason Keen is chasing a national title--and running from his mistakes. When his last sponsor threatens to pull their support unless he becomes the poster boy of a charming, family friendly cowboy, there is no way he can pull it off. Unless he can find another way to soften his rough-edged image while he works at Redemption Ranch between events…

Despite her family’s status as Colorado ranching royalty, Cassie Reynolds’ heart has been tied to the rodeo since her first event at the tender age of five. If her possessive ex-boyfriend would get the hint and leave her alone, she’d never leave her rodeo marketing job. Unfortunately, with each passing day, he’s growing more desperate to claim her.

When a week at home on Redemption Ranch is interrupted by the appearance of Cassie’s ex, Jason can’t stand by and let him terrorize the owner’s daughter. Could her unorthodox proposal be the solution to get them both through the holidays and the rodeo national finals?

Book Thoughts

After reading the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series, I am excited to visit the next series written by a lot of the same authors in a neighbouring town called Redemption Ridge. As the name promises, there is much redemption to experience in these Christmas stories along with a few crossover surprises if you've read the previous series. Tara Grace Ericson kicks us off with an introduction to Jason Keen and Cassie Reynolds, where the two characters have known each other for years, but a threat causes them to have to work together to ensure their safety. I appreciate that we get to see beyond Jason's gruff exterior to his heart. It's truly a spiritual and interpersonal transformation that help Jason and Cassie move beyond being acquaintances to more.

As always, I love the intentionality behind this series in pointing to Jesus while offering a great story. There's plenty to learn about the world of bull-riding, with the author bringing us behind-the-scenes in a way that makes you feel like you're watching the sport live before your eyes. Coupled with these professional moments, the times at the ranch with Cassie's family are touching. Readers looking for a down-to-earth Christmas story that shows how God provide for us while facing a dose of suspense and Western themes will enjoy Marrying the Rancher's Daughter.

Review: Breath of the Almighty

I've had the pleasure of revisiting my love of poetry through reading poignant and touching collections of Christian poetry that I've been introduced to on Instagram. I'm grateful that Breath of the Almighty by Shay McNally came at just the right time for me, tugging on my heart and my mind through verses that point back to God in every breath and poem. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Content to be aware of : SA Book Synopsis Breath of the Almighty is a debut collection of free verse, confessional Christian poetry born from a life that's seen both deep wounds and deeper mercy. These poems move through topics such as family, grief, soul searching, healing, love, marriage, calling, spiritual warfare, prayer, forgiveness, and the ordinary places where Christ shows up when we least expect it. Each poem is rooted in Scripture and lived-in faith, and grounds lofty theology to an eve...

Review: What Is Left of the Night

I'm very grateful to be able to read my first fiction book by Mark Buchanan , a Canadian author who has written extensively on Christian non-fiction topics. What Is Left of the Night is an ambitious feat, combining multiple points-of-view to deliver a story that is as suspenseful as it is thoughtful. Discourse and action carefully balance each other, keeping rapt attention on a book based on true events during the Second World War. Many thanks to  Kregel Publications  for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Hello Again

Wow, this is the longest I've been away from blogging, so thank you for taking the time to check out old posts and reviews instead! It hasn't been fun being sick, especially when I didn't even have the energy to read anything for the first part of my illness. I'm slowly on the mend and hope to change my reading stats for the remainder of the month. In case I haven't expressed it on here, I am deeply grateful to you for reading my little musings and different Christian book reviews. Although I haven't had the energy to even think about posting reviews, I have missed them, so stay tuned for the ones coming up! I wish you a very happy start to the summer if you're in the northern hemisphere and a very happy start to the winter if you're in the southern hemisphere 🌞❄
