It's been wonderful reading more Christmas books from some favourite suspense authors. The Christmas Cabin by Laura Thomas serves as the fourth book in the Flight to Freedom series and is the perfect bite-sized story to accompany the other thrilling adventures that have been re-released.

Book Thoughts

This Christmas novella in the Flight to Freedom series allows readers to meet up again with Madison from The Glass Bottom Boat. It's a blessing to continue hearing about the orphanage in Mexico where Madison and Carla first meet. In this story, Carla is back home in British Columbia, Canada after she has been away serving children as a missionary. Little does she realize that this Christmas trip will not only dredge up past nightmares, but that it could also affect her future. I appreciate that this book tackles difficult topics and doesn't gloss over its harsh realities. As characters repeatedly turn to the Lord for help with personal battles, it adds realism to what believers may continue to struggle with.

As always, Laura Thomas delivers a suspenseful read in this novella that keeps readers waiting with bated breath for what's next. While the scenes are action-packed, there is also an element of spiritual reflection that makes each story sparkle even more. Seeing Carla and Rhys grow in their walks with God is satisfying, and I love that they don't rush into things until they have much time is spent in prayer. If you are looking for a Christmas story that delivers chills and culinary treats in multiple ways, The Christmas Cabin shows us what second chances can look like and how God can bring redemption from pain.
