Review: He Is Faithful in Every Season

He Is Faithful in Every Season book cover on blue background

I'm a little sad that I read so little poetry as an adult compared to my youth. I don't know whether it's a lack of exposure to Christian poets or that I forget to seek it out, but am I ever grateful for opportunities to come across it when others reach out about it. Christian poetry is such a special genre that draws on truth and beauty in its arrangement of words to compose an entirely new scene.

He Is Faithful in Every Season by Julia Rose does just that, providing us with a lovely reminder to encounter words in a fresh and inspired way.

Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Book Synopsis

Fifty poems intricately woven together with God's faithfulness and the truth of His Word. "He Is Faithful In Every Season" is a book of worship, love, redemption, freedom, and dependency. It touches on topics such as anxiety, fear, loneliness, and grief. It brings to light the abounding hope of a Savior regardless of the darkness in this world. The raw and emotional poetry within these pages is solely to glorify God in the highest and to give hope to those who are lost.

Book Thoughts

What a beautiful collection of poetry that points to Jesus in every thought and stanza. In reading the carefully and artfully crafted words of Julia Rose, I couldn't help but enter moments of prayer and reflection. This book provides the margin and space to think upon the Gospel and to apply God's truth no matter what season of life we are going through. I appreciate that these poems come across as music to the heart given their lyrical quality and devotion to God.

I hadn't realized what a breather I needed, and I am grateful that He Is Faithful in Every Season filled that gap for me between reading dense theology books. It is encouraging to know that whether our words are few or many, they can serve to draw us closer to God, with this book doing just that. Readers looking for a collection of poems that can speak to their emotions will enjoy the simplicity and the depth contained within this book, with Bible verses accompanying each poem to help us fix our eyes on Jesus.
