Friday Reads

fallen leaves on wooden benches in a park

This Friday, I'm taking a breather from reading—more like a Friday pause. I have lots on the go and a ton of new work projects. Earlier today, I felt confident that I could find a few new titles to start on. Throughout the course of the day, more and more fires had to be put out, and I realized that my brain could not give attention to four urgent tasks all requiring focus at the same time.

I still have some past titles to work through and am really looking forward to a break. On top of multiple forms of employment, I also volunteer heavily in my community, so September shouldn't catch me by surprise (and yet it does!). Thankfully, with the seasons changing, it's a reminder that I can stop and enjoy what's around me.

I'm grateful for the words of Jesus during such a hectic and intense day like I faced today. I love that His promises hold true no matter what day of the week it is.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30

Review: The One She Loves - A Healing Kind of Love #4

It's a little sad to bid farewell to the A Healing Kind of Love series by Ella Marie , but I'm thankful that a bonus book was added for fans wanting to see more of Enzo's daughter. Gianna definitely steals the show and she's a pure delight in The One She Loves , all grown up and pursuing graduate education. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Book Synopsis As the youngest of five successful siblings, Hollywood was Nico’s chance to finally prove he could make a name for himself. But when everything he’s worked for comes crashing down, he’s forced to return to Bedford—the town where he left behind a colossal mess. Seeing Gianna on his very first day home brings every regret rushing back. Once his first love, she’s now a painful reminder that while failure kept landing on his plate, success kept filling hers. With the two of them now working side by side at his dad’s café, burying th...

Review: The Battle for Heaven and Earth - A Story of Scripture #1

When I saw this book being offered for #CampNetGalley this summer, I knew that it would be an excellent opportunity to try biblical fiction with a twist on it. The Battle for Heaven and Earth by Mark M. Yarbrough and Jerry B. Jenkins is a book unlike what I've read before and it's already whet my appetite for what's next in the series. It's riveting with fast-paced scenes while plunging me into scenes of much spiritual depth. Since it won't be published until November 3, 2026, I am grateful I didn't have to wait that long to enjoy this title. Many thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Book Synopsis In the beginning—before Earth, before humanity, before sin--there was Heaven. And it was perfect. This is the story of creation as you've never imagined it. Once united in worship and purpose, the angelic realm is shaken when Lucifer—the most beautiful a...
