Book Synopsis
I came home looking for redemption, not a second chance with the man my heart never forgot...
Noelle:
Running away a month before my wedding was the hardest choice I ever made. But crawling back thirteen years later with my life in shambles might be worse.
I’m jobless and homeless with a laundry list of apologies to make. But as an eldest daughter, my motto is “I’m fine.” Only it’s not fine, and I’m tired of pretending.
I have a place to live, thanks to my conniving little sister, but my landlord is NOT supposed to be my ex-fiancé, hockey captain, Cal Satterfield. He’s not supposed to be my new boss either. But his daughter needs a nanny, and I’ve always been a sucker for those blue eyes.
I have plenty of bridges to mend, and Cal wants to break down the walls between us. Like a second chance is possible.
If only I were brave enough to believe it.
Cal:
Thirteen years, two months, and seventeen days.
That’s how long I’ve waited for the girl who got away. And finally, Noelle Shepherd is back.
Logically, I shouldn’t find her this enchanting. And I definitely shouldn’t hire her as my daughter’s nanny. However, logic has never been my strong suit.
It might be the worst decision I’ve ever made, or the second chance I’ve always prayed for. Because despite the history between us, Noelle is still the one I want to come home to.
I’ll do everything I can to prove to her I’ve changed. This time, I’m playing for keeps.

Book Thoughts
Serenity Springs is such a welcoming town, offering grace and a reprieve to Noelle Shepherd after she runs away from her family challenges. Despite some meddling neighbours and a cat that rules the town, it's a special place where friends and family carry each other's burdens. I love that Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht sensitively portrays chronic illness in a realistic manner, complete with flareups and down days. With Noelle not being able to do everything she was once capable of, it's more important than ever that she has a supportive community around her who can empathize with her condition. As a result, I feel like her community has become my community through these books in that it's refreshing to see other believers look beyond physical limitations to the character and heart beneath it all.
The theme of finding our worth in Christ and having enough in Him is key when we can't offer or contribute anything more. Cal patiently conveys this to Noelle and it's one of the reasons we can see just how much he has changed from who he was before when he didn't listen well. Seeing growth in both characters is encouraging and it allows Cal and Noelle to pick up where they left off in their relationship. Readers who enjoy a story about second chances, forgiveness, and not being viewed through the lens of past mistakes will find the Satterfield family to be a comforting place to land as they share God's love with others.
