Now this is a cozy book meant for autumn! Susan L. Tuttle was a featured author in the Clearly Christian Readathon in 2024, so I'm grateful that I finally had the opportunity to read one of her books.

A Secret Worth Protecting is a suspenseful sweet fall romance that will have you wanting to already decorate your house with pumpkins and throw blankets. I'm looking forward to future titles from the author!

Book Thoughts

There is more to Sam Cooper than meets the eye, and that extends beyond his twin daughters, Olive and Jane. With Sam bearing the heavy burden of keeping their identities under wraps, it's not surprising that he is in desperate need of help for himself and his family. I really enjoy how this contemporary romance offers a touch of suspense that had me eager to see how the Coopers would fare.  In meeting Ansley and getting to know her past, it reinforces how nothing is a coincidence with God in this story. Seeing her and Sam work together is heartwarming and long overdue.

The message of God wiping our slates clean after coming to Him in repentance is not easy to live out; however, we are not alone in being able to live in His freedom and forgiveness. Sam and Ansley need to apply this truth to their lives every day, so it's a joy to see them spur each other on toward better understanding and receiving God's good gifts. There are so many tangible allusions to this in Sam's relationship with his daughters and in Ansley's relationship with her sister. If you're looking for a book that delves into the ramifications of hiding your identity while being made new in Christ, A Secret Worth Protecting is worth picking up.

I've been coming across content within the past several weeks that has stereotyped Christian books (and other mediums) as being cheesy on Christian accounts. While this isn't a new label or even a new topic, what has surprised me somewhat has been seeing more Christian authors jump into this conversation who wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. Although some authors will name others whom they believe are writing non-cheesy fiction, I feel as though the damage has been done by repeating this blanket statement. Mortality and Reading

This is a topic that has been resonating for me over the past few days, ever since I saw James Trevino's Instagram reel about why you shouldn't finish every book you start. In it, he breaks down the math of how many books we'd be able to read in a lifetime, based on reading a set number of hours per day and the average lifespan. He then compares this number to the number of books that are available worldwide. At first glance, it made me realize that I would have a lot of unread books, no matter whether my life is short or long. There's just too many books to read. Thinking about when my life might end led me to think about the types of books I read and how I'm currently filling my time. I don't think it's a coincidence that right after this crossed my mind, I was listening to  The Weight of Glory by C.S.
