Review: Through Each Tomorrow - Timeless #6

Through Each Tomorrow book cover on blue background

Just in time for the release of the next Timeless series book, I'm delighted that I'm caught up and able to enjoy my soon-to-arrive pre-order. I'm grateful that I've been able to read several of the previous books as ARCs and have found that with all of its popularity, demand must be exceedingly high for them, which is always a good sign for the series and author 😄

As a result, Through Each Tomorrow by Gabrielle Meyer became a post-Christmas gift to myself. And what a gift it was where I could savour the story and enjoy returning to this world!

Book Synopsis

In 1883, Charles enters elite circles entwined with intrigue, but suspicions of his identity arise among the upper crust.

In 1563, Cecily serves Queen Elizabeth while her stepbrother Charles seeks to save the ailing monarch. As their futures hang by a thread, they must race against time to prevent their secrets from ensnaring them in an inescapable destiny.

Book Thoughts

What an adventure this book takes you on! From the intrigues at Queen Elizabeth's court to the societal machinations of 19th century America where names, prestige, and wealth can be the ultimate pursuit, Gabrielle Meyer takes us on a tension-filled journey that explores everything from family provision to social standing to brotherly loyalty. In featuring a male time-crosser's point-of-view for the first time, readers are treated to two best friends who care for each other in two time periods, along with their families. It's a wildly enjoyable book that touches on what it looks like when there is immense internal and external pressure to take care of family members and their futures, especially as a man and provider in these time periods.

This tug of war between culture constraining what can happen versus personal dreams desiring what cannot be is the heart of what Charles and Cecily wrestle with in their time-crossing. Amid the many twists and turns, this series continues to be wholly satisfying when seeing how circumstances are woven together to result in a story that shows how God is always faithful, sovereign, and loving. No small detail escapes His notice, with His timing being perfect. Readers who have enjoyed previous Timeless series books will love the sixth book with all of its Easter eggs, connections, and progression of a story that will not leave your mind anytime soon.

Review: Who I Was

I am so impressed by each volume of poetry that Julia Rose  has released so far and am not-so-secretly hoping for more collections from her in the future. Who I Was is a deeply vulnerable look at what it means to feel grief over our sinful nature while desperately clinging to God's promises. It laments how we love ourselves in all the wrong ways, and it redirects our focus back to what it means that God loves us. Combining each poem with a Bible verse and devotional, this book can be read over time in bite-sized pieces or all at once while painting a beautiful picture of our identity in Christ. Many thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. Book Synopsis A collection of poetry and devotionals that reclaim the idea of "self-love" by pointing to the One Who is love. Can we truly love ourselves in a way that glorifies God? And if so, how? Who I Was dives into the concept of self-love and what it ...
