Review: Someone to Trust - Laurel Ridge #1

This is such a sweet story that starts off with quite the embarrassing encounter. From there, it can only go up, right? That's the case with Megan in Someone to Trust by Lesa Henderson, the first in the Laurel Ridge series depicting a small town that acts as a refuge for visitors.

Book Synopsis

Megan McCormick doesn't leave Atlanta looking for love. Far from it. She runs to the mountain town of Laurel Crest to flee from her past and a broken heart. When she's knocked over by Lee Grainger, handsome veterinarian and lover of small-town living, Megan's life takes an unexpected turn.

Book Thoughts

Megan and Lee's story was so touching and a powerful reminder of how God's love pursues us in the midst of our fears and shame. I loved that this story addressed how family brokenness could be healed and overcome by God as the ultimate restorer. Taking this trip to Laurel Ridge, I enjoyed getting to meet the people in town and seeing them come together to bless Megan as a newcomer. Lee was such a gentleman in how he conducted himself, making this budding romance even more tender.

I found it refreshing to see Megan mature as she dealt with her past hurts and to see Lee come alongside her. The messages of forgiveness and waiting on God's timing were well-conveyed by the author, making readers invested in this spiritual journey. If you're looking for a book where the characters grow in their faith and learn what it means to surrender to God, Someone to Trust shows us that we can always trust in God and in His ways.
